On Wednesday, October 25, at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi, Match 24 of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 will pit Australia against the Netherlands. Despite choosing to bat first after winning the toss, the Australian captain Pat Cummins lost their opener Mitchell Marsh (9 off 15) after just four innings.
Notably, during the game, Australian players can be seen sporting black armbands as a tribute to the late four-month-old infant child of former Australian bowler Fawad Ahmed and his family. The former spinner gave birth to his second child in June of this year, but the baby had a number of health problems and was taken to Royal Children’s Hospital in Melbourne, where he passed away.
In order to show their support for Fawad’s family during these difficult times, the entire team was visible wearing black armbands.
The thoughts of the Australian Cricket community are with former Australian spinner Fawad Ahmed after the passing of his young son.
Our condolences are with Fawad, his family and friends in this terribly difficult time ❤️

Fawad is noteworthy for having made his debut in a Twenty20 International against England in August of 2013, and for having taken six wickets overall in two T20Is and three ODIs while playing for Australia.
