The most recent ICC rankings saw Australia overtake India as the top-ranked Test team. Due to their two-match advantage over Pakistan in the three-match Test series, the Pat Cummins-led team has dethroned India and assumed the top ranking. In contrast, India defeated South Africa in Cape Town by a remarkable seven wickets, winning the match in just five sessions.
India and Australia both had 118 ratings prior to the most recent update, but the Rohit Sharma-captained team had more points. However, Australia became victorious after defeating Pakistan twice in a row, ending India’s dominance as the top team in all three forms. Last September, they became just the second club in history to be ranked No. 1 across all formats; however, they were only able to hold that spot for four months.
In ODIs, Australia and India hold the top two positions as well.
Australia, who are currently the world champions, are ranked second on the points table with a rating of 117, while India is at the top of the charts with a rating of 121. Compared to England, who are ranked second on the chart with 256 ratings, India leads all other teams in Twenty20 Internationals with a rating of 265.
India’s victory over South Africa in Cape Town has also propelled them to the top of the World Test Championship points standings. South Africa is ranked second on the list with 50%, while their percentile is 54.16%.
As far as the players are concerned, Kane Williamson continues to be the top Test player. A knee injury that occurred in 2023 caused the former Kiwi captain to miss a considerable number of Test matches. In contrast, Suryakumar Yadav is recognized as the top T20I player, and Babar Azam is recognized as the top ODI player.
Bowlers Adil Rashid in T20Is, Keshav Maharaj in ODIs, and Ravichandran Ashwin in Tests are ranked highest.
