Recently, Team India’s possibilities of winning a likely hat-trick of Test series in Australia’s backyard were clarified by former coach John Buchanan. Notably, in the previous two tours to Australia, the visitors were undefeated.
The likelihood of the Indian team will be determined by how well Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli perform against the Australians during the forthcoming visit, according to the well-known Australian coach. He thinks the team might win a triple series if the two great batters bat for a very long period and exhibit amazing resistance against a strong bowling lineup. Notably, India will be touring Australia later this year, with the first Test set to begin on November 22 at Perth’s historic WACA.
The Australians will be itching to tease the Indian batsmen from the first ball of the game because Perth is renowned for having one of the world’s most tranquil and buoyant tracks. Furthermore, because both teams have some veteran players, Buchanan believes that the intensity will be where it was when they left it last time. It’s important to remember that Buchanan had a tremendous tenure with Australia in all game types during the 2000s.
“Australia has a pace bowling attack led by Nathan Lyon and possibly Cameron Green or Mitch Marsh, after they lost to India in the previous series. This creates a highly potent lineup for bowling. To post competitive totals, India’s top order, which includes players like Shreyas Iyer, Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, and Yashasvi Jaiswal, may need to bat extraordinarily well. Then, bowlers like Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami, and Mohammed Siraj may profit,” Buchanan stated at the CP Goenka International School’s multi-sport program inauguration.
It is unlikely that players like Rahane and Pujara would be included in the touring team: John Buchanan
In addition, John Buchanan talked about the game’s psychological elements. In his opinion, the fact that Team India has won a lot of series and thus appears to have an advantage over Australia does not matter for the forthcoming tour. The great coach went on to say that the batting performances of Ajinkya Rahane and Cheteshwar Pujara were the highlights of India’s incredible victory.
“The previous series victories were noteworthy, but it’s unlikely that players like Ajinkya Rahane and Cheteshwar Pujara, who were essential to those triumphs, will be included in the touring team this time. At this point in their careers, all of the current players on both teams want to perform. Thus, those previous games aren’t as influential anymore,” Buchanan said.

During the 2018–19 Test series, Pujara stood his ground and forced the Australian bowlers to work far harder than they had anticipated. The fact that he faced 1,258 balls in the series helps to illustrate the enormity of his heroic effort. In order to lead India to a historic victory on the subsequent tour, Pujara once more stood tall and batted out 928 balls.
