At Pallekele International Cricket Stadium, Pallekele, on Monday, September 4, India will play Nepal in the second match of the Asia Cup 2023. India’s fielding was terrible throughout the game despite playing an inexperienced Nepalese team, as they missed three catches in the first five overs. Virat Kohli, Ishan Kishan, and Shreyas Iyer all made legal catches to grant Nepal’s openers reprieves.
Notably, India’s catching efficiency rate—at 75.1%—is the second-lowest since the World Cup 2019. Only Afghanistan, with a rate of 71.2%, has a better rate. With the Asia Cup 2023 just one month away, the Rohit Sharma-led team needs to drastically improve their fielding.
