After India’s crushing defeat, losing the series 2-0 to Sri Lanka, Indian captain Rohit Sharma stood out as the series’ highest run scorer with 157 runs. In addition, he had the best strikeout rate (141.44) of any batter on both teams, demonstrating the capabilities of his modern-day greatness.
Ravichandran Ashwin, an off-spinner from India, praised Rohit Sharma‘s crease demeanour and emphasised this accomplishment.
Rohit’s bravery and batting ability were praised by Ashwin, who also showered him with praise for his outstanding effort.
“Rohit Sharma’s batting once again was one thing that helped me during the Sri Lanka series. Rohit means “I am going to hit,” regardless of the situation or level of fear. “Rohit is the best batter in the game right now,” Ashwin said in a new video posted to his YouTube page.
The recently concluded Tamil Nadu Premier League 2024 saw Ashwin, who himself displayed a wider repertoire while leading the Dindigul Dragons to victory, praise Rohit for his remarkable adaptability at the wicket. Ashwin highlighted Sharma’s adept use of a wide range of strokes against pacers and spinners. He pointed out that a lot of people found it difficult to settle and score runs at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo, and that Rohit’s success on this difficult batting surface was largely due to his strategic diversity.
“Rohit Sharma plays square, sweeps – tries reverse sweeps, when he plays fast balls, he uses his feet to come down the track – he is creating options,” stated Ashwin.
Until they face England for a three-match ODI series in January of next year, the Indian squad won’t play any more ODIs. The team will work on honing their hitting techniques on slow wickets akin to Khettarama in preparation for the Champions Trophy in February.

Nothing substantial is expected to change in Rohit’s style of play. He must continue to adopt a genuine, organic style in all forms.
