Following the end of India’s current five-match Twenty20 International series against Australia, the team will be getting ready for a demanding visit to South Africa. It’s important to remember that the Men in Blue and the Proteas will play a multi-format series that consists of two Test matches, three ODIs, and three T20Is. Moreover, India will be using three different captains in distinct configurations for the first time.
Rohit Sharma will lead the Test team, KL Rahul will lead the ODI team, and Suryakumar Yadav will captain the T20I team. With the various lineups, practically every player in the Indian team gets a chance to play, and very few big names will be left out of the match against South Africa. In relation to this, former Indian bowler Ashish Nehra too spoke up and shared his thoughts. Ashish Nehra further suggested that Bhuvneshwar Kumar, a seasoned bowler, might have also been chosen.
The fact that the selectors chose three separate teams does not surprise me in the slightest. Almost everybody’s name has appeared. It’s possible that very few players are present or nearby whose names are missing, Ashish Nehra told JioCinema.
Since you are heading to South Africa and have selected a number of fast bowlers, I can only think of one name: Bhuvneshwar Kumar. I am aware that Arshdeep Singh and Mukesh Kumar are your other new-ball possibilities and that he is now playing,” he continued.
The judges ought to keep a watch on him: Ashish Nehra
Nehra also praised Bhuvneshwar Kumar and suggested that the experienced pacer be watched by the selectors. He said that everyone should take note of his skill at white-ball cricket.
But when you consider all of your possibilities, Bhuvneshwar Kumar is a seasoned bowler who, in my opinion, is still doing admirably. He is someone the selectors should be watching. Particularly when discussing the T20 and 50-over forms, they shouldn’t overlook him, Nehra stated.
