K.L. Rahul who is widely regarded as one of the batters with the highest level of technical proficiency in the game, has not had much success in recent years.
KL Rahul struggled mightily with the bat during the two-match Test series that India played against Bangladesh, making a total of 57 runs over the course of four innings for an average of 14.25.
The criticism that Rahul received as a result of his performance in the Twenty20 World Cup in 2002 was substantial, and the assignments that followed didn’t assist him very much either. Dinesh Karthik, a seasoned wicket-keeper batter for India, shares the sentiment that Rahul is running out of time to demonstrate his worth.
Concerns were expressed over Rahul’s capacity to not only bat at the top of the batting order but also to lead the Indian team after the conclusion of the second test match against Bangladesh, which India won after a tense matchup to take the overall series against Bangladesh by a score of 2-0.
Karthik remarked that even though he would give the Karnataka batsman a couple of matches, things need to change swiftly or else someone like Shubman Gill may be taking his spot if he continues to struggle with the bat. Karthik was referring to the batter’s form with the bat.
“I would give KL Rahul those couple of Test matches, but if things don’t go the way that KL Rahul wants them to… The fact that he has participated in over 40 Tests despite having a score in the mid-30s on average is the one factor that may be said to count against him.
That is not appropriate for the beginning of the presentation. That is without a doubt one of the lowest averages among Indian players who have competed in at least 35 test matches.
That is unquestionably something that he needs to put more effort into. That is going to be going through his head. It is imperative for him to get a couple of hundreds against Australia if he wishes to solidify his position on the Test team.
Aside from that, there is undeniably a shift taking place, especially with Shubman Gill doing so admirably “Karthik stated on Cricbuzz.
Because Rohit Sharma is certain to rejoin the Indian side in the not-too-distant future, the decision of who should bat first could present a significant conundrum.
While it is almost probable that Rohit will grab one of the initial spots, the management of the club will have to make a difficult choice between Shubman and Rahul.
