Arun Dhumal will probably hold the position of IPL Chairman for a minimum of one more year. In the upcoming months, the IPL Governing Council, led by him, will have to deal with important matters including salary caps and player retention.
The blockbuster auctions for the Indian Premier League (IPL) are quickly approaching, and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is getting ready to make some important choices at its Annual General Meeting (AGM).
The re-election of Arun Dhumal and Abhishek Dalmiya to the IPL Governing Council (GC) is anticipated to add continuity to the meeting, which is set for Sunday, September 29, in Bengaluru.
Every year at the BCCI AGM, two delegates to the IPL GC are chosen. Dhumal and Dalmiya have submitted their nominations for the roles this year. Since there aren’t any other candidates in the running, they will be elected without opposition.
There is currently no agenda item for the election of a new BCCI secretary.
The Indian Cricketers’ Association (ICA) representative will also be confirmed by the AGM in addition to the GC members. As per Hitesh Muzumdar, the ICA Secretary, V Chamundeswaranath, a former cricket player from Andhra and South Zone, has been renominated by the ICA for this role.
The appointment of the BCCI delegate to the International Cricket Council (ICC) is another item on the agenda for the AGM. Jay Shah is the person holding this role at the moment, but he is going to take over as the ICC’s Independent Chairman. As a result of this adjustment, a new BCCI representative must be chosen, and it may be necessary to nominate two candidates in order to facilitate a seamless transition once Shah begins his new position in Dubai.
It is important to note that the election of a new BCCI secretary to follow Shah is not yet on the agenda, even though the AGM will discuss these urgent issues.

A Special General Meeting (SGM) will need to be called in order to make this crucial choice; this will probably happen on January 15th. Shah is anticipated to resign by the end of November.
