With the start of India’s domestic season, the red-ball format is gaining attention. Indian players are honing their craft and moving up the ranks by competing in a variety of competitions across the nation. While some want to secure their spots in their home teams for the coveted Ranji Trophy, others have their sights set on the Indian squad.
The second group includes Arjun Tendulkar, the renowned Sachin Tendulkar’s son, who has improved his reputation with a brilliant performance in the present Dr (Capt) K Thimmappiah Memorial Tournament, or KSCA Invitational. While playing for Goa CA XI against Karnataka, the left-arm pacer claimed nine wickets and led his team to a convincing victory by an innings and 189 runs.
Tendulkar finished with numbers of 5/41 in 13 overs during the first innings, while Karnataka was dismissed for just 103 in 36.5 overs. After that, Goa amassed 413 in their first innings, with to half-centuries (69) from Manthan Khutkar and a century from Abhinav Tejrana (109). After falling down by 310 runs, Tendulkar scored 4/46 in his 13.3 overs to help Karnataka be dismissed for 121 in 30.4 overs.
Can this be Arjun Tendulkar’s year in domestic cricket?
In order to experience Ranji Trophy cricket, Tendulkar relocated to Goa prior to the 2022–2023 season after having previously worked in Mumbai. The young player averaged 45.19 and got 21 wickets in 13 first-class games. Tendulkar has also played in five Indian Premier League (IPL) games for the Mumbai Indians, four of which were in 2023 and one in 2024.
Although the 24-year-old hasn’t participated in many games in the lucrative league, he has managed to receive compliments from Rohit Sharma, the current captain of India and a former captain of the Mumbai Indians.
“Arjun has played for this team for the past three years, even if he wasn’t included in the starting lineup. Regarding the gifted cricket player, Rohit had stated, “I have watched him grow over the years.”

“We witnessed what he was doing in the run-up to the IPL; he was bowling quickly, hitting those Yorkers, and he was also quite clear about his goals. He is attempting to keep things simple [for the squad]. “He is attempting to bowl Yorkers at the end of the game and swing the new ball,” Rohit continued.
