Jay Shah, secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), recently made the announcement that India will not travel to Pakistan in order to take part in the 2023 Asia Cup. He also put out the notion that the tournament should be conducted at a neutral location instead.
Following the announcement that was made by Shah, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) had also threatened to withdraw from the One-Day International World Cup, which will be hosted in India immediately following the Asia Cup.
Ramiz Raja, who was recently removed from his position as the chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), expressed his thoughts on the matter by pointing out previous instances in which teams refused to play in Pakistan on the grounds of security concerns and what transpired as a result of those decisions.
Ramiz pleaded with the other board members not to give in to India’s demands and to demonstrate some initiative instead.
“What exactly does it mean to lead? What kind of a response is appropriate when the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) asks Pakistan to host a tournament but India then states that they will not travel to Pakistan and instead want to play the tournament at a neutral location? Are we India’s servants simply because the Indian cricket team is one of the best in the world? Should We Take Everything They Say Into Consideration?” The comment was made by Ramiz on Dunya News.
The man, who is 60 years old, is of the opinion that the Pakistan national team and the fans deserve a great deal more respect than they are now receiving.
“We will consider whether or not we will be cut off from the rest of the world, then we will inquire about receiving authorization from the administration to continue the talks. These are not characteristics of an effective leader.
Please show your team and your fans the respect they have earned, as Pakistan’s cricket team is now having a lot of success, your country has a large fan base, and you have some very talented players “he concluded.
