Archie, the son of former England cricketer Michael Vaughan, has been making waves in the County Championship. In division 1 of the Championship, the eighteen-year-old claimed his maiden five-wicket haul. Playing for Somerset, he was instrumental in restricting Surrey during the first innings.
It is noteworthy that Archie Vaughan, who opened the innings for Somerset, scored 44 runs in 107 deliveries as his team amassed 317 runs in the first half of the match. In addition to his impressive bat skills, he also dazzled with the ball in his hand.
Archie Vaughan grabbed six wickets in the first innings despite conceding 102 runs in his 37 overs of bowling.
His spell was vital in reducing Surrey to a meagre advantage in the first innings, as they were only able to muster 321 runs.
In August 2024, Archie made his first-class debut against Durham, and Michael Vaughan couldn’t contain his embarrassment when making commentary on the match. Archie made his debut, scoring 30 and 16 runs in each of the two innings while also grabbing three wickets.
He committed to a two-and-a-half-year professional deal with Somerset in May 2024, and he has consistently demonstrated promise when given the opportunity to play for the team.
Surrey draws nearer but Somerset holds its lead.
Speaking of the match between Somerset and Surrey, Somerset finished the third day with 194 runs after Vaughan’s valiant efforts restricted Surrey to 321 runs in the opening innings. Archie Vaughan was bowled out for three runs in eleven deliveries, making it a disappointing batting performance.

Somerset, trailing Surrey by 190 runs and having already lost nine wickets, will be looking to add to their lead before the last wicket falls in order to give Surrey something to work for in the second innings.
