The Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2024 auction may see young Australian all-rounder Annabell Sutherland go for the highest price, according to former Indian cricketer Abhinav Mukund. On Saturday, December 9, in Mumbai, the much-awaited auction is set to take place.
Using his social media accounts, Mukund conveyed his enthusiasm for covering the mini-auction. For 30 seats among five teams—the Mumbai Indians, Delhi Capitals, UP Warriorz, Gujarat Giants, and Royal Challengers Bangalore—a total of 165 players will be cut.
“Excited to report on today’s WPL sale. Just a few spots need to be filled for certain teams, but 165 guys are cut. My choice for the most expensive item at this auction is Annabel Sutherland,” the 33-year-old stated. With 288 runs scored, the 22-year-old grabbed 23 wickets. Additionally, during the event, the all-around player bowled 117 dot balls.

The young person has already accomplished notable achievements on a national and worldwide scale. With her right-hand bat and right-arm medium-fast bowling, the 22-year-old has excelled on the field. When she was barely 15 years old in 2016, she made her WBBL debut for the Melbourne Renegades, kickstarting her domestic career. She also became the youngest player to appear in the WBBL, writing her name in history.
She was called up to the Australian team for the 2020 Australia Women’s Tri-Nation Series and the 2020 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup in January 2020 as a result of her outstanding domestic achievements. In February 2020, during the tri-series, the 22-year-old made her debut for her country in a Women’s T20I match against England. After that, she played for the country in both Test matches and ODIs.
