Anger amongst fans as Usman Khawaja’s double century in the Sydney Test is thwarted by Pat Cummins’ declaration

After cruising to victories in the first two games of the Test series against South Africa, Australia has jumped out to an unassailable 2-0 lead and can now consider the series won.

After having their third day of the third and final test washed out by rain, the team captained by Pat Cummins declared their innings on the fourth day of the match with a score of 475/4.

Usman Khawaja, who was opening the batting, suffered a significant setback as a result of the decision because he was unable to achieve his first hundred and win the game.

The fact that Khawaja was left stranded on 195 does not sit well with the supporters, as seen by the fact that many have taken to social media to vent their dissatisfaction with the matter.

One of Usman Khawaja’s supporters wrote, “Usman Khawaja hard done!!

Declaring with Khawaja on 195 not out in a game and series that has already been won by Australia against South Africa does not do Cummins any favours with the public.

“Would they have made their declaration if Steve Smith had been on 196? There is no discernible difference between Usman Khawaja and Smith, in my opinion “sent a tweet to a fan.

so, if Steve Smith had been on 196, would they have made their declaration? There doesn’t seem to be much distinction between Usman Khawaja and Smith to me.

In the fifth and final match of the series, which took place in Sydney, Australia made a rollicking start to their pursuit of 20 South African wickets to complete a clean sweep of the series.

Following yet another delay in play caused by rain during the morning session, the captain of the opposing team, Pat Cummins, declared his team’s first innings to be over after noon with a score of 475-4 in order to go for the win against the helpless Proteas.

The graceful opener Usman Khawaja was left stranded on 195 not out when Cummins made the decision to declare the innings over. This prevented Khawaja from having the opportunity to complete his first Test double century.

South Africa had a score of 71 for three when the fourth day’s tea break arrived, with Temba Bavuma on 28 and Khaya Zondo not out 5.
