Ahead of Australia’s second and final Test match against the West Indies, head coach Andrew McDonald and all-rounder Cameron Green have tested positive for COVID-19. After the initial test in Adelaide Oval, batter Travis Head got in touch with the virus; however, on Tuesday, January 23, he returned a negative result. He arrived at the training session on Wednesday, and he is now prepared to participate in the second Test, which is scheduled to start on January 25, against the West Indies.
Green and McDonald, meanwhile, are currently apart from the rest of the gang and will reunite with them as soon as their tests come back negative. The all-round player has a very good probability of missing the Gabba Test as well. Cricket Australia’s protocols permit the all-rounder to play in the match, but it is entirely dependent on his level of fitness and recuperation.
But if Cameron Green is declared out of the game, Steve Smith will bat in the middle order, with Matt Renshaw and Usman Khawaja starting.
Cummins discusses the pink-ball challenge in detail.
The longest format of the game, The Test at The Gabba, is a day-and-night event that ushers in the return of pink balls. In contrast to the West Indies, Australia has played a lot more Day-Night Test matches. Captain Pat Cummins talked openly about the impending task.
“I think it’s just a simple switch for bowling.” You don’t make a lot of changes. Simply has a little different feel in your hand. However, Cummins was cited by cricket.com.au as adding, “I know the batters like that extra session or two to get used to just seeing the different coloured ball out of the bowler’s hand.”
“There’s no denying that participating in pink-ball Test matches virtually annually and playing Shield cricket with the pink ball over time has helped us become somewhat more accustomed to the pink ball than our opponents can just through experience. However, I haven’t participated in a pink-ball (Test) in a while; my most recent participation was in Hobart two years ago,” the 30-year-old continued.
