In a Big Bash League (BBL) match that took place on Saturday at the Lavington Oval in Albury, the Sydney Thunder were victorious over the Hobart Hurricanes by an impressive score of 62 runs.
The Thunder were given the opportunity to bat first, and with to centuries from Alex Hales (77) and Ollie Davies (65), they were able to achieve a massive total of 228/6 in the allotted 20 overs.
Despite Matthew Wade’s quickfire knock (67 off 30 balls), the Hurricanes were only able to score 166 in their reply, with Brendan Doggett putting in a tremendous shift with the ball. At the completion of the match, Doggett’s stats were 4 for 35.
In addition to that, he got rid of Nathan Ellis by taking a spectacular return catch off of his own delivery.
The incident took place during the third delivery of the 16th over, when Ellis blasted the ball straight towards Doggett. Doggett responded swiftly and was able to pick the cherry despite the odds being stacked against him.
BBL uploaded the video to its official Twitter account and captioned it with the following question: “How are the reflexes on Brendan Doggett?
In addition to that, Doggett was responsible for the dismissals of D’Arcy Short, James Neesham, and Joel Paris.
The victory allowed Sydney Thunder to climb up to second place in the BBL table, where they now have eight points.
Because they have a higher net run rate than the Thunder, the Perth Scorchers are currently in first place in the points standings.
This past month, Sydney Thunder entered the cricket record books in the most unwelcome way possible on Friday after getting bowled out for a score of just 15 in their Big Bash League game against Adelaide Strikers. This number is the lowest Twenty20 score in the history of the game.
The innings of the Thunder, who were attempting to achieve 140 runs, lasted just one ball shy of six overs, and five of its players were unable to trouble the scorer in any way.
