In the current T20 World Cup 2024, star Indian batter Virat Kohli has fallen short of his capabilities. With just five runs scored in his first two games, the 35-year-old is well short of the tournament record. Still, former cricketer Ambati Rayudu was pleased with Kohli’s initial intentions. In the second game between India and Pakistan, the opener struck a magnificent cover drive that went for a boundary, but he was caught at point a few balls later.
Ambati Rayudu anticipates that Kohli will perform well and thinks he will quickly regain his form.
While this was going on, his opening partner Rohit Sharma made 13 against Pakistan and a half-century against Ireland. Speaking about that, Rayudu said that Virat and Rohit both play with the same goal of winning India matches one-sidedly. He also said that he looked in excellent touch.
“At this time, I don’t see the necessity to alter the combination. We witnessed a fantastic cover drive, and even on the ball that Kohli was bowled off of (against Pakistan), he had played a brilliant shot but was unable to obtain the elevation necessary to get over the defender. Rayudu stated on Star Sports, “The intent he displayed was fantastic. If Virat and Rohit can both bat with this intent, then the big days will come when any of them or both can win India the game one-sided.
Virat’s major setback is rapidly approaching: Piyush Chawla
Virat has demonstrated determination in the last two games and will soon begin scoring, according to Piyush Chawla as well. He continued by saying that although things don’t always go your way in T20 cricket, Virat can still make a run because he has good ball timing.

“Look at Kohli’s intent, as Rayudu Bhai mentioned, even in the two matches in which he was removed. T20 is a format where things just don’t work out for you every time. However, even in the few balls that a hitter plays, you can see what kind of shape he’s in. It’s evident that he is in form based on how the ball is striking the middle of his bat. I think the major knock is coming soon because he has performed well in more difficult circumstances, Chawla added.
