Azam Khan, a wicketkeeper-battler for the Guyana Amazon Warriors in the present Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2024 match, was hit by a bouncer in the neck and oddly lost his wicket.
At Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in North Sound, Antigua, on August 30, during the Warriors vs. Antigua and Barbuda Falcons game, an incident occurred.
Azam Khan came into bat in the tenth over with the Warriors chasing a score of 169 runs.
Falcons pacer Shamar Springer hit a short-pitched ball in the inning’s twelfth over, and Azam tried to draw the bouncer but misjudged the ball. He was hit by the ball in the shoulder, and then it bounced off his neck, knocking him off balance and down. The 26-year-old’s bat made contact with the stumps as he went to the ground to stop the ball from hitting them, causing the bails to come loose and leading to his dismissal.

Guyana Amazon Warriors succeeded in securing an outstanding triumph.
Azam was clearly hurt as he lay on the ground, grasping his neck. It was clear how the punch had affected him. The physiotherapist for the squad raced onto the pitch to offer assistance. Azam was helped off the pitch after a quick inspection, having only scored nine runs at the pace of one ball during his brief stint.
The wicketkeeper-batter’s form and health have come under examination, especially in light of his underwhelming performance at the 2024 T20 World Cup. With only 88 runs at an average of 8.80 from 13 innings in international cricket, he was unable to have a major effect. He has only scored nine runs in a single game this far in the ongoing CPL.
