After beating the UAE, Hong Kong will be placed in Group 1 with India and Pakistan for the Asia Cup

After going undefeated during the qualification process, Hong Kong was able to clinch a spot in the Asia Cup 2022 thanks to a dominant victory against the United Arab Emirates by an eight-wicket margin.

The fight to compete in the Asia Cup 2022 alongside Sri Lanka, India, Pakistan, and Bangladesh has been won. Afghanistan will now take part in the tournament. Yesterday evening’s resounding victory over the United Arab Emirates by eight wickets allowed Hong Kong to secure a spot in the Asia Cup 2022 tournament.

They won all three of their matches in the Asia Cup Qualifier that was held in Oman, so they kept their perfect record intact. After winning the coin toss, Hong Kong decided to bowl first.

The United Arab Emirates ended up scoring 147 runs but were unable to bat out their allotted 20 overs. The run chase for Hong Kong was conducted according to a well-laid strategy, and they were successful in 19 overs. After taking four wickets while conceding only 24 runs, veteran and star player Ehsan Khan was awarded the player of the match trophy.

In his post-match speech, the captain of the Hong Kong cricket team expressed his joy at having qualified for the next round and expressed gratitude to the Hong Kong cricket board for all of their assistance.

Nizakat Khan, Hong Kong Captain said, “I am at a loss for words to adequately express how I currently feel. I would want to express my gratitude to Hong Cricket for all of the help they have provided.

The approach we took was the same; we were aware that in order to qualify for the Asia Cup, we needed to win all three of our matches, and that is exactly what we achieved. We tackled it one match at a time, and the boys did an excellent job of fighting back. This is a major competition that will allow us to display our talent, and it is a fantastic opportunity for each and every member of this team.”

Chundangapoyil Puthiyapurayil Rizwan, UAE Captain remarked, “Because of the dew on the ball, our bowlers gave up a lot of runs, and we can speculate that this was because the ball was coming into the bat more cleanly. Therefore, there is a great deal to be learned, and we intend to draw wisdom from this experience in order to emerge even more capable.”

Ehsan Khan of Hong Kong was voted the match’s most valuable player “This is a time of pride for the Hong Kong squad as well as for myself personally. A significant accomplishment on our part. We executed the strategy laid out by the team, and it was successful. When it comes to the Asia Cup, I have Virat Kohli in my sights because he is such a talented batsman. My participation in the Asia Cup, which I will be doing for the second time, is a significant accomplishment for me.”

Now, Hong Kong will take on India on the 31st of August and Pakistan on the 2nd of September.

The much-anticipated match between India and Pakistan will finally take place on August 28, nine months after it was originally scheduled.
