Although Pakistan’s U19 Asia Cup team lost to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in the semi-finals, head coach Mohammad Yousuf has found six youngsters with enormous potential who could play for Pakistan in the future. The 49-year-old expressed great optimism for their future and stressed the need for continuous development if they want to join the national squad.
Muhammad Yousuf praised Saad Baig and Azan Awais for their outstanding batting efforts during the competition. After hitting 222 runs in four games, Azan emerged as the tournament’s second-highest run scorer, while Baig ended fourth with 176 runs in the same number of games. In the semi-final matchup with the UAE, Baig scored a half-century while batting at number four, but Pakistan was bowled out for 182 runs, losing by 11 runs.
But Muhammad Yousuf noted that they still have the opportunity to grow while applauding their mature batting. He also mentioned Mohammad Zeeshan, who finished as the tournament’s second-leading wicket-taker after taking 11 in four games.
May Allah bless Saad and Azan to play even better, as they have demonstrated extremely mature batting. I frequently stress in team meetings that while we are doing well, we can still do better. Every day, we try to perform well. Zeeshan has had excellent bowling. Additionally, Ubaid Shah bowls effectively. “The bowlers have performed exceptionally well,” Yousuf said to Cricket Pakistan.
To ensure cricket’s future, they must become more focused and disciplined. Muhammad Yousuf
Yousuf stated that in order for the squad members to succeed in the future, they must become more focused and disciplined following their defeat to the UAE. He spoke about bright young people like Shamyl Hassan and Riaz Ullah, saying they might be key players in Pakistan’s future.
The guys did a wonderful job at cricket, but they have undoubtedly learned from this. For the sake of cricket in the future, the World Cup, and beyond, they must sharpen their focus and discipline. Pakistan’s future is promising. I particularly admire the boy Shamyl, who is one of them. Although they are still young, Riaz Ullah shows promise as well. He continued, “I’m sure both of these boys will have a great future for Pakistan if they keep learning these little things.”
