Team India will be concentrating on the forthcoming tasks after their disappointing ODI World Cup 2023 campaign. The Men in Blue will play Afghanistan in a three-match Twenty20 International series, it was confirmed.
The three-game series, which will take place in January 2024, will mark India’s first limited-overs series against Afghanistan.
The T20I series will take place in Mohali, Indore, and Bengaluru, in that sequence, from January 11 to January 17.
It is noteworthy that, outside of the ICC and ACC competitions, India and Afghanistan have never faced off in white-ball cricket. In 2018, both teams did engage in a single test match.
Following their World Cup performance, the Indian squad will be heading to other foreign locations. Starting on November 23, the team will play a five-match Twenty20 International series against Australia.
India aims to bounce back from its World Cup tragedy.
After their devastating experience in the just-concluded ODI World Cup 2023, the Indian squad will be itching to get some wins under their belt. India hosted the esteemed competition and won every match in the championship’s group rounds.
The team became the first to qualify for the World Cup knockout stages after winning nine games in a row. In the first semi-final, India also triumphed over New Zealand, breaking their curse against the Kiwis. They advanced to the tournament’s summit clash, where they faced Australia.
But they lost to the yellow-clad men, ending their winning streak. Following outstanding innings from Travis Head and Marnus Labuschagne, Australia successfully chased down the target of 241 runs thanks to a masterful display of leadership by Pat Cummins, who outwitted the Indian team.
Australia won their sixth World Cup victory by defeating India by six wickets. They will want to replicate that achievement in the forthcoming Twenty20 International series.
