In response to the harsh criticism that cricket player Hardik Pandya is receiving following a few disappointing performances in the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024, well-known Bollywood actor Sonu Sood recently took to social media to express his support for cricketers.
Surprisingly, the all-rounder from Baroda joined the Mumbai Indians again before the 2024 IPL. Then, when he was named the new captain, taking over for the legendary Rohit Sharma, the five-time winners dropped a surprise. Since then, supporters of Rohit have attacked Hardik and criticised the Mumbai-based team’s choice.
Sonu Sood, who starred with Shahrukh Khan as co-owner of the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the film “Happy New Year,” referred to cricket players as “heroes” and declared his respect for them, regardless of the teams they play for or the positions they represent.

Respect for our players is due. Gamers who inspired us, athletes who inspired our nation. You may be happy for them one day and hate them the next. We are the ones who falter, not them. I’m a huge cricket fan. Every cricketer that plays for my nation is someone I adore. It makes no difference what team he plays for. It makes no difference if he is a team captain or their fifteenth player.
Sonu Sood, who is renowned for his social activities, remarked, “They are our heroes (tricolour emoji).”
The 50-year-old did, however, go on to remove the message from each of his social media profiles.
The Mumbai Indians’ unsettling IPL 2024 season
The Mumbai Indians’ IPL 2024 season has started with back-to-back losses. They lost to Gujarat Titans in Ahmedabad for the first time before Sunrisers Hyderabad defeated them in Hyderabad. In the two games, Hardik has taken one wicket and has scored 35 runs. Both analysts and fans have criticised him for his decisions as a captain as well as for his exploits with the bat and the ball.
Perched at position nine on the points table are Hardik and company. On Monday, April 1, at Mumbai’s storied Wankhede Stadium against the undefeated Rajasthan Royals, they will try to recover and record their first victory of the season.
