Aaron Jones lit up the T20 World Cup last month, smashing a spectacular half-century against Canada in the opening match. He also masterminded the USA’s thrilling victory over Pakistan in the Super Overs. When the right-hand hitter puts on the St. Lucia Kings shirt, he will be excited to keep wearing his purple patch.
The Caribbean Premier League is set to take place this coming August 29–October 4. The CPL draft, which took place on Monday, July 15, saw teams confirm their squads for the renowned competition. Due to his Barbados passport, Aaron Jones, who played for the USA in the T20 World Cup 2024, signed a domestic contract with the St Lucia Kings.
Following the formation of their teams through signings and retentions, all six teams were essentially sorted. On Monday, they completed their squads through the draft. At the drafts, Kings also brought in players including Akeem Auguste, Mikkel Govia, Johann Jeremiah, and Khari Campbell.
The first player signed in the draft was the devastating Kyle Mayers, who joined the St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots. Alongside Ryan John and Veerasammy Permaul, Mikyle Louis, who made his Test debut at Lord’s last week, will also represent the Patriots.
But for Matthew Nandu, it was a return home as he was selected by the Guyana Amazon Warriors, the reigning champions, who also added all-rounders Ronaldo Alimohamed and Raymon Reifer to their lineup.
The Antigua and Barbuda Falcons, who will play in the CPL 2024 alongside the Jamaica Tallawahs, have signed Teddy Bishop, Kofi James, Justin Greaves, Jahmar Hamilton, and Roshon Primus. Nathan Edward and Shaquere Parris have been added by the Trinbago Knight Riders, the most successful team in the league with four titles under their belt, to cover the emerging player positions.
With just three spots remaining in their lineup, the Barbados Royals signed Isai Thorne, a West Indies player from the previous two Under-19 World Cups, Nathan Sealy, and Kadeem Alleyne.
