Recently, former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra came forward to draw attention to how unlucky KL Rahul has been all of his career. Rahul, he noted, will always be in the “shadows” of his teammates Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli.
India’s next task is a two-match Test series against Bangladesh; the opening Test is scheduled for September 19 in Chennai. KL Rahul was named in the BCCI’s latest announcement of the first Test team.
As a player, I think KL Rahul is good. He’s going to need to score runs. He will continue to advance if he continues to score runs. His lot in life is to constantly remain under the shadow of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma. These are the large men. In a YouTube video, Chopra expressed, “I think Rahul is incredibly talented and skilled.”
Aakash Chopra shared his opinions regarding Rahul’s future with the Indian squad and his outlook going forward.
“In the future, he will continue to play until he is able to score runs. In Indian cricket, a climate against him can be built very rapidly, even when the team thinks highly of him. He’ll never get as long a rope as you would give someone else of the same caliber or pedigree because there are too many people after him. Given that he has scored numerous difficult runs, I would give it to him if it were up to me,” he continued.

In 199 international games across all formats during his career, Rahul has amassed 7979 runs in scoring. He often represents the team in Tests and ODIs, but lately, the short format has not been kind to him. Sarfaraz Khan and KL Rahul are expected to battle for a spot in the playing XI for the first Test as India gets ready for the Tests against Banglades.
