Matthew Hayden, the coach of the Pakistan cricket team, stated that despite the loss, he was pleased of the players for the fight that they put up against England in the T20 World Cup summit match on Sunday at the MCG. Hayden made this statement.
Sam Curran and Ben Stokes both had outstanding games, which helped England win the ICC Twenty20 World Cup for a second time, following their victory in 2010. This time, England prevailed against Pakistan by five wickets in an exciting match played at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) on Sunday.
“It’s incredible that these young men haven’t got the same opportunities that the rest of you have, yet they’ve participated in every game anyhow.
They gave their all in the nets during each and every game. Bowling and throwing, both of which, in my opinion, are worthy of a standing ovation “Hayden stated this in a video that was released to Twitter by the Pakistan Cricket account.
“It’s incredible to think about how far we’ve gone in this competition, and I know you must be in a lot of pain right now. It seems uncomfortable, yet the truth is that we are so close together. Guys, I can’t tell you how proud I am of all of you. In my opinion, the work that you have done is outstanding. I am grateful to you for allowing me to observe your private rituals “he replied.
“I really hope that the accomplishments of this playing group make you young men feel that you should be proud of yourselves. I just wanted to say thank you for letting me use your dressing room, for sharing your hearts, minds, and spirits, and for putting in your entire maximum effort into this campaign.
We simply feel very honoured and privileged to be a part of that tale, and I want to express those sentiments on behalf of the support staff “The mentor of the Pakistan cricket team, Matthew Hayden, commented on the video.
Hayden is confident that the team’s overall performance will have significantly improved by the time they compete in the 50-over World Cup in India.
“You were all at my house for dinner about a month ago, and I expressed my belief that we have the ability to win the World Cup. Take that back. No, nothing has changed about that. There has been no alteration.
There is no doubt in my mind that this bunch of young men is capable of winning the World Cup. And I am confident that with some clarity on how to move forward from this tournament, how to celebrate some good performances while also acknowledging some of the weaknesses we have had in the last one month, that by the time the World Cup is held in India, we will once again be celebrating getting somewhere near the World Cup, and I believe that this will be the case because we will have some clarity on how to move forward from this tournament “he said.
