By a wide margin, Virat Kohli is the Indian cricket player that pays the most taxes as of the fiscal year 2024. Surprisingly, though, Fortune India states that India’s top 20 does not include captain of the ODI and Test team Rohit Sharma.
Kohli is the fifth-highest tax payer among Indian celebrities, having paid an astounding INR 66 crore in taxes. In the meantime, MS Dhoni, who paid INR 38 crore in income tax and announced his retirement from international cricket in August 2020, came in second place. Dhoni plays for Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Among Indian celebrities, he ranks sixth in terms of contributions.
After paying INR 28 crore in taxes, Sachin Tendulkar—one of the greatest cricket players of all time—is ranked third. Sourav Ganguly, the former captain of India and a close friend and teammate of Sachin, is ranked fourth on the list after having paid the Indian government INR 23 crore in taxes. With contributions of INR 13 crores and INR 10 crores, respectively, active cricket players Hardik Pandya and Rishabh Pant were also included on the list.

What time will the Indian team be playing again?
The Indian squad hasn’t taken the cricket pitch in a long time. But the wait will soon come to an end as they will welcome Bangladesh for a Test series consisting of two matches, beginning in Chennai on September 19. In October, the two teams will also play a three-match Twenty20 International series.
