In August 2020, during a robbery incident at his Pathankot residence, Kumar was slain. His family members were not the only ones hurt. Kaushal, Kumar’s kid, passed away at the hospital while receiving medical attention. In addition to receiving life sentences, each of the offenders also received fines of INR 2 lakh. After reviewing all of the evidence, District Sessions Judge Jitendra Pal Singh Khurmi made the determination.
The District Sessions court has sentenced the 12 defendants in the murder of Suresh Raina’s uncle, Ashok Kumar, to 12 years in prison.
Following the disaster, Amarinder Singh, the then-chief minister of Punjab, issued an order to assemble a Special Investigation Team (SIT). This included Pathankot SSP, SP, and the IGP of the Amritsar Border Range.

SIT gathered proof while conducting the inquiry. One hundred people in all were deemed suspect.
