More than his contributions to the squad, Gautam Gambhir’s on-field altercation with Virat Kohli as the Lucknow Super Giants mentor is likely to go down in history. After the Kolkata Knight Riders won the IPL 2024 championship, the veteran left the LSG camp. Currently serving as Team India’s head coach, Gambhir has been praised by LSG owner Sanjiv Goenka for building a well-rounded squad.
Gujarat Titans and LSG were founded in 2022. Only a few days before the season started, the team was purchased and Gambhir was named. Supergiants qualified for the playoffs even though GT went on to win the IPL 2022 championship. The 42-year-old maintained his connection throughout the 2023 campaign, and the squad once more struggled in the postseason. Goenka praised Gambhir’s efforts in spite of the lack of a trophy for the team and the absence of experts.
“The foundation of the side has been built in large part by Gautam Gambhir.
The only reason our first auction was successful, in your opinion, was due to Gautam. Only two weeks prior to the auctions, we were awarded the franchise. We lacked a research team and an analyst. Speaking to, Goenka stated, “It was all Gautam Gambhir’s team.”
He assembled a well-rounded team by doing it all. Each has a certain function to perform, and Gautam did it incredibly well,” he continued.
It surprises me that this meeting is receiving so much attention: Sanjiv Goenka
More than the disappointing defeat, Goenka’s heated conversation with captain KL Rahul captured everyone’s attention after LSG kneeled against Sunrisers Hyderabad’s deadly batting in an IPL 2024 match. Goenka stoked Rahul’s emotions, but he appeared clueless. Later, in the midst of admirers urging Rahul to move out, the two got together for supper. The owner of LSG explained the situation and referred to the 32-year-old as a crucial member of the group.

“For the past three years, I have intermittently met with KL. Sincerely, I’m shocked by the amount of attention this meeting is receiving [from media]. He is indispensable to LSG. He has been involved since the beginning. Goenka continued, “He is like family to me personally and to [my son] Shashwat [Goenka, who is also involved in operating LSG].
