The first Test between Pakistan and Bangladesh began on August 21 at Rawalpindi. The newborn boy was born to Pakistani pacer Shaheen Afridi during the Test match. For those who are unaware, in September 2023 Shaheen married Ansha Afridi, the daughter of former Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi. The father celebrated the birth of their son Ali Yar on the pitch with a special ceremony.
After dismissing Hasan Mahmud on Day 4, Shaheen’s customary celebration of spreading his arms over the pitch became less prominent. As Hasan squeezed one past wicketkeeper Mohammed Rizwan, the 24-year-old was working extremely hard but had yet to claim a wicket. After completing the follow-through, the left-arm pacer was ecstatic and signalled for a baby snuggle. In addition, it was the former captain of Pakistan’s first defeat since the birth of his kid.
Here’s the video of Shaheen’s celebration:

Day 4: Bangladesh takes a commanding lead
In the Test match, Pakistan achieved a respectable 448 after choosing to bat first, helped by centuries from Rizwan and Saud Shakeel. The hosts were unable to stop the seasoned Mushfiqur Rahim’s onslaught, despite taking two early wickets during Bangladesh’s innings. The visitors jumped out to a commanding lead of 117 runs thanks to the innings of 191 that the 37-year-old scored off 341 deliveries.

While Mohammed Ali, Khurram Shahzad, and Shaheen each contributed two wickets, Naseem Shah claimed three. After losing Saim Ayub, Pakistan is now behind by 94 runs at the end of Day 4. Ayub mishandled a ball that was longer than usual, allowing Bangladesh’s Shoriful Aslam to score on his second delivery of the same over.
