On his red-ball cricket comeback, star Indian batsman Ishan Kishan looked outstanding. In the current Buchi Babu Invitational Tournament 2024, the 26-year-old is competing on behalf of Jharkhand. Kishan promptly returned to work and produced a fantastic performance from behind the stumps, despite the fact that he hadn’t played in the longest format in a while.
Kishan played his opening match of the tournament against Madhya Pradesh at the India Cements Limited Cricket Ground in Sankar Nagar. On Day 1, in the fifteenth over, he made an incredible catch after crouching down to his left. Additionally, he was instrumental in set batsman Shubham S. Kushwah’s removal after he amassed 84 runs off 171 balls.
When Kushwah attempted a square cut, he gained an outside edge. Kishan, unable to make the first catch, juggled the ball and managed to catch it, dismissing Kushwah. With a brilliant catch on the leg side, Kishan dismissed Ramveer Gurjar to cap it off.

The 26-year-old accepted the catch with a full stretch dive onto the leg side. With the loss of eight wickets in 89.5 overs, Jharkhand was able to restrict MP to a total of 225 runs thanks to his heroics behind the stumps.
It’s intriguing to note that Ishan Kishan’s strong performance in red-ball cricket may help him secure a spot on the Indian team again. In July 2023, he played his final Test match for India against the West Indies. He was also recently excluded from the BCCI’s central contract list.

The BCCI and its secretary, Jay Shah, had given different orders, but Kishan missed most of the domestic cricket season, thus the board opted to exclude him from the central contract list. Kishan last played for the team in the T20I series against Australia in November 2023, hence he hasn’t yet represented India in 2024.
