With great performances in the upcoming domestic season, Ishan Kishan is motivated to make a return to the Indian squad. Some of the biggest names in Indian cricket could be seen playing with him at the Duleep Trophy next month, according to sources. In November 2023, Kishan made his final appearance for his country, playing in a five-match home T20I series against Australia.
Ishan Kishan was taken off the BCCI central contract list in February of this year after choosing not to compete in the Ranji Trophy.
The likelihood of the southpaw’s return to the national team was not discussed during the first press conference held by new India head coach Gautam Gambhir.
But before the selection meeting for the Bangladesh Test series next month, Kishan has a fantastic chance to make his eagerly anticipated return to the Indian team. He voluntarily declared himself available for the domestic season earlier this month on advice from national selectors, and the Jharkhand State Cricket Association (JSCA) has already included him in its list of 25 pre-season probables.
The BCCI secretary reaffirmed that all healthy players should make themselves available for domestic cricket when they are not playing for the Men in Blue, which prompted this development. Afterwards, it was verified that the Jharkhand wicketkeeper-batter will participate in the Buchi Babu invitational, which gets underway in Chennai on August 15.
In the upcoming Duleep Trophy, which takes place from September 5 to 24, Kishan is expected to get another chance at redemption from the Ajit Agarkar-led BCCI selection panel, according to a recent article from Indian Express. India will play a two-match Test series at home against Bangladesh beginning on September 19, therefore the selectors will be closely monitoring the players’ performances in this renowned red-ball tournament.

Kishan, 26, may make a surprise comeback for the Bangladesh series if he can wow the selectors with his Duleep Trophy achievements. For India, the wicketkeeper-batter has so far participated in two Tests, 27 ODIs, and 32 T20Is. Since there is more rivalry for spots, particularly in light of Dhruv Jurel’s rise and Rishabh Pant’s return, he would prefer to get back into the national lineup as soon as possible.
