Recent remarks regarding the significance of domestic cricket were made by prominent India captain Rohit Sharma. The Indian squad was defeated 2-0 by Sri Lanka in their most recent three-game One Day International series. Following a draw in the opening One-Day International, India lost its next two matches as Sri Lanka won their first series against them since 1997.
Rohit emphasised the significance of competitions such as the Ranji Trophy in the process of choosing the national test team following the defeat. He also expressed the opinion that, even with the IPL’s success, it is imperative that all players participate in domestic competitions since it fosters skill.
Our aim has always been to ensure that the available players participate in the Ranji Trophy. Our international cricket is built on the foundation of our domestic cricket. Our domestic cricket is important for everyone since many of the boys who are currently representing the country grew up playing it. “We aim to maintain its competitiveness,” Rohit stated during the briefing held after the game.
We mostly source players from our home circuit rather than the IPL. A lot of talk takes place when selecting players for Test and One-Day International cricket, he continued, about who is performing well in the Ranji Trophy, one-day format, Syed Mushtaq Ali, and other such competitions.
Naturally, one format where the problems are distinct is the IPL: Rohit Sharma
The India captain also discussed the IPL and emphasised the difficulties that the competition faces. He believed that the Indian Premier League (IPL) is also India’s competition, and that one must do well in all domestic competitions to be considered for the Indian team.

Of course, the Indian Premier League is one format with unique issues. Both are in competition here. Our cricket is the Indian Premier League, or IPL. Whoever performs well in all of these competitions will ultimately be selected, he stated.
