The former Indian captain, MS Dhoni, has a unique mentoring technique that Indian all-rounder Shardul Thakur recently discussed. He shared observations that shed light on the veteran’s methods for developing young people and granting his teammates autonomy.
Dhoni has had a significant influence on Indian cricket as the only skipper to win the T20 World Cup, ODI World Cup, and Champions Trophy, all three ICC championships. He has demonstrated equally excellent leadership with the Indian Premier League (IPL) team Chennai Super Kings (CSK). Playing for both India and CSK under the renowned cricketer’s captaincy, Thakur talked about his experiences learning from the man.
“Because he helps us develop, playing with him has always been wonderful. He gives us the freedom to devise our own strategy. He will therefore never spoon-feed us. “I might not be available behind the wickets tomorrow,” he will remark. And how are you going to respond? “Return to your room, contemplate your strategy, and devise your plans. If things don’t work out, I’ll step in,” Thakur informed the reporters during an event.
MS Dhoni has raised a great number of children: Shardul Thakur
The two players have enjoyed a successful partnership, especially in the Indian Premier League, where Dhoni has been involved in 14 of the 71 innings in which Thakur has been dismissed as a wicketkeeper. For the national team, they have played together seven times, with the previous captain only having a hand in two of Thakur’s dismissals.
Dhoni’s wider impact on Indian cricket was also mentioned by Thakur. He acknowledged that the great wicketkeeper had cultivated young players, pointing out that he had supported players such as Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma during pivotal periods in their careers.

“The three ICC Trophies he left behind, the training of so many young people, his legacy. All of the current greats, including Virat and Rohit, may have been dropped at some point in their lives. But the legendary MS Dhoni supported them and everything they’ve done since 2012 to now,” Thakur said in closing.
