The Southern Braves defeated the winless Manchester Originals by seven wickets at the Utilita Bowl thanks to a stingy bowling performance.
In front of 10,337 spectators, the hosts, who were without the rested Jofra Archer, restricted the Originals to 116 for 6, and they easily won with 22 balls remaining.
With a score of 2 for 11 from 20 balls, Craig Overton was the star of the home attack. Chris Jordan and Tymal Mills of England each took two wickets. Alex Davies, a courageous batsman, broke the chase quickly with a brilliant 24 off 12 balls, and Laurie Evans sealed the deal with an undefeated 25 from 15 balls.
The Originals, who are still at the bottom of the table without their injured captain Jos Buttler, are down to four teams on four points after the victory took Brave up to the top.
Despite the possibility of rain, brave captain James Vince decided to bowl, but brilliant bowling meant the game ended before the rainy weather could arrive. Phil Salt and Max Holder, the visitors’ openers, were promptly pulled by Craig Overton, as they could only muster 16 for 2 during the 25-ball powerplay.
After hitting an undefeated 43 from 37 balls, veteran hitter Wayne Madsen attempted to piece together the innings and eventually received some assistance from Jamie Overton.
After the Originals were 41 for 4 at the halfway point of the innings, with Jamie Overton having hit one of just two sixes, the two players collaborated for 57 crucial runs. With a slower ball, Mills removed Jamie Overton from the game, and Usama Mir struck his own stumps to end a pathetic innings.
Before Vince had even faced, Davies had already scored 24 off 10 balls, giving Brave a quick start. After a chip catch by Tom Hartley to Paul Walter, Brave managed to stay above the needed pace thanks to consistent 20s from Vince and Leus du Plooy. James Coles and Evans finished the job, with a misfield giving the hosts the winning runs.
Craig Overton, the Meerkat Match Hero, stated: “It was undoubtedly an amazing victory. All we had to do was hit the top of the stumps as hard as we could to give their batters a difficult time. We have to win these home games in order to advance to the knockout stages. If we manage to steal one, we’ll be close to doing so.”

“Al got us off to a rapid start to get us ahead of the game,” Vince stated. Laurie did a great job finishing it for us tonight, so we didn’t want to allow them back into the game.”
