A. Revanth Reddy, the chief minister of Telangana, revealed intentions to build a second stadium for international cricket in Hyderabad. The goal of this action is to advance cricket at the highest level and improve the state’s sporting facilities.
Hyderabad has long been a centre for cricket in India, and it is already home to the renowned Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium. The Telangana government’s larger plan to improve sports facilities and support athletic talent throughout the state includes the proposed new stadium.
In his speech to the state Assembly today, Chief Minister Reddy disclosed that preliminary talks about building the new stadium have been held with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).
The enormous project’s planned location is Begarikancha, which is outside of Hyderabad and is where the Young India Skills University’s foundation was just established.
The government of Telangana allots INR 321 crore for sports.
The government has indicated that it is willing to donate land for the stadium, provided that the BCCI agrees to construct a building that satisfies international standards. The chief minister also discussed a number of other sports-related activities.
A new sports policy is being developed and will be unveiled at the upcoming Assembly meeting. The sports strategy of Haryana is being scrutinised by the government as a possible template. In the 2024–25 budget, the state has set out INR 321 crore for sports as evidence of its commitment to the growth of sports.
In an effort to respect and assist its athletes, the Telangana government is also acting. The state government has resolved to give international cricket player Mohammed Siraj, two-time world boxing champion Nikhat Zareen, and shooter Esha Singh each 600 square yards of housing plots.
