In anticipation of the two-match Test series against their senior men’s team, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has included former Test captains Mushfiqur Rahim and Mominul Haque for one of the four-day matches against Pakistan Shaheens.
Bangladesh and Pakistan Shaheens will square off in two four-day games and three one-day matches in Islamabad from August 10–27. The first Test between the two senior men’s teams begins in Rawalpindi on August 21, while the first four-day match is slated for August 10–13.
“We were asked to incorporate Mominul and Mushfiqur in the opening four-day match against Pakistan Shaheens.
A member of the national selection panel named Abdur Razzak told on Tuesday, “We feel the matches would be good preparation for some of the cricketers likely to represent us in the upcoming Test series against Pakistan.”
The four-day match will include seven Test cricketers from the previous series against Sri Lanka, including Shahadat Hossain, Zakir Hasan, Mahmudul Hasan, Nayeem Hasan, and Hasan Mahmud.
Shahadat Hossain, a young middle-order batsman who has played the last four Tests at home against Sri Lanka and New Zealand, is not expected to be included in the Test squad and will instead play the second four-day match against Pakistan Shaheens with the Bangladesh A team.
Many people are surprised by the inclusion of Mossadek Hossain, who last participated in a Test match against Sri Lanka in 2022.
“We have picked players like Mossadek as we have eight Test matches and we want to keep some experienced players ready so that in case we have any injury issues, they can come in as replacements,” Razzak stated.
“Those games are advantageous to us, so I think it’s a terrific chance for us to try some of our guys with the A squad. In addition, New Zealand, South Africa, and possibly the West Indies will be included—though the latter is still pending confirmation. Once these matches happen, we shall know more.

It will be simpler for us to form teams if we can schedule these matches in between since international cricket matches flow naturally. The A team’s games become crucial in that sense whether we need a young player, someone who has experience playing for the national team, or if those who are participating need to practise in a competitive environment’, he continued.
