Hardik Pandya was anticipated to step up when Rohit Sharma announced his retirement from Twenty20 international cricket, as the BCCI prepared the all-round player for the position. Suryakumar Yadav was named the new captain of the Twenty20 Indian cricket team, which is an unusual development. Former cricketer Lalchand Rajput believes that Pandya may really benefit from this.
Lalchand Rajput expects Pandya to concentrate on his game and to play freely without the pressure of leading the team in order to reach his full potential.
Additionally, as India prepares for a massive five-match series against Australia later in the year, he wants Pandya to aim for a red-ball comeback. After his final Test match against England in 2018, the 30-year-old has been out for the longest duration due to a number of injuries.
The former cricket player thinks that Pandya, who has the ability to alter the course of a match, might be a great asset to the Test team.
“I wish I could see him play red-ball cricket. He is a player who has the ability to alter the outcome in each of the three departments. He would benefit the team if he performed well in red-ball cricket. Rajput told Hindustan Times, “He’s an all-rounder who can come in at no. 6 and also bowl a few overs.”
Rajput supported Suryakumar’s performance as T20I captain and accepted the team’s decision to remove Pandya from the position. He wants Pandya to concentrate on his versatility and perform for the good of the team.
“I believe the selectors had to have considered the coach’s perspective as well. The management is interested in Hardik Pandya’s success. He can play freely and perform at his peak with bat and ball if they remove him from captaincy.

“I heard Ajit Agarkar say he was unfit most of the time at his press conference. They require a captain capable of participating in every game. That had to have worked in Suryakumar Yadav’s favour. In addition, SKY began the T20 format early and captained the Mumbai Ranji team. The 62-year-old continued, “He will lead the team in the greatest possible way.
