In the fifth T20I Team India (IND) faced Zimbabwe (ZIM) at the Harare Sports Club in Harare on Sunday, July 14. After winning the toss, Zimbabwe chose to bowl first. India suffered a top-order collapse when Shubman Gill and Yashasvi Jaiswal, the stars of the previous encounter, returned to the pavilion with scores of 12 and 13, respectively. As Sanju Samson and Riyan Parag of the Rajasthan Royals stabilised the ship with a 62-run partnership for the fourth wickets before stepping back with scores of 58 and 22, respectively, Abhishek Sharma did the same.
India passed the 150-run milestone because to a brilliant cameo from Shivam Dube, who came down the order. He left after scoring 26 off 12, and Rinku Singh finished undefeated with 11 off 9. Blessing Muzarbani took two wickets for Zimbabwe, while Sikandara Raza, Richard Ngarava, and Brandon Mavuta each claimed one wicket.
Another batting collapse by Zimbabwe costs the game.
The hosts made a mistake early in the chase, losing power batter Brian Bennett for ten runs and Wessley Madhevere for a duck. When the opposition stumbled back, scoring 27 and 34 runs, respectively, Tadiwanashe Marumani and Dion Myers played intelligently, splitting 44 runs between them. This was when the collapse began. In nine runs, the middle and lower order fell apart. With his 27 off 13, Faraz Akram shown some revenge. India won the match by a score of 42 runs after they were bundled for 125.
“Throughout the entire series, I felt Blessing bowled well. While we are still not playing at our best, we are beginning to address the issues at the top. There will be terrible games from time to time. After the game, Raza stated, “The grey area for me will continue to be our mentality on the field. We are still making a lot of mistakes, but that is under control. We are going to keep working hard and hopefully keep getting better.”
