To the delight of Jasprit Bumrah, all-rounder Hardik Pandya discovered that he was embracing his inner Thor during India’s T20 World Cup 2024 victory lap at Wankhede Stadium. On July 4, India celebrated their second T20 World Cup victory, filling Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium with nationalistic exuberance.
The BCCI arranged a special felicitation celebration for the squad after a victory procession down Marine Drive. 33,000 excited fans were treated to speeches by cricket stars such as Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Hardik Pandya, and Jasprit Bumrah.
An unanticipated scene happened as the Men in Blue completed a victory lap around the stadium, hoisting the Indian flag and joining the crowd in singing “Vande Mataram.” Pandya was walking at the front, urging the fans by holding out his arms. At that moment, a T-shirt shot into the air from the stands and landed squarely in his right hand. With ease, the all-round player caught the shirt before letting it drop. As Bumrah, who was following closely behind Pandya, saw the strange occurrence, she started laughing.

Our goal is to promote Indian cricket: Japrit Bumrah
With 15 wickets at an average of 8.26, the right-arm fast was declared the Player of the Tournament for his exceptional performance. He addressed reports of his impending retirement head-on during the felicitation ceremony. Jasprit Bumrah also thought back on his journey and the significance of the win.
“I’ve just recently started, so my retirement is really far off. It has a wonderful feeling. In my life, this ground is incredible. I arrived as an U19 child. It is unlike anything I have ever seen. I have never felt anything like this or the feelings that followed the game, Jasprit Bumrah remarked.

“I’ll consider myself fortunate. The players’ experience and our self-assurance. It’s amazing how they can seize the initiative and take the game by surprise. Our goal is to advance Indian cricket. We have never before won the World Cup. This increases our motivation,” he said in closing.
