Captain Rohit Sharma stressed the importance of keeping a cool team environment and using clear thinking as India gets ready for their pivotal T20 World Cup semi-final matchup against England in Providence, Guyana, on June 27.
Rohit Sharma underlined that the semi-final should be treated like any other tournament game, even if everyone is aware of its importance and that it’s crucial to avoid being overly anxious about it.
The comment from him on the eve of the match was “See, we want to treat this game as another game that we have played in this tournament,” according to ESPN Cricinfo. “We don’t want to consider what is coming up, the game’s setting, or anything else like that. Everyone is aware that this is a semifinal in the back of their minds. However, you don’t want to bring up the subject repeatedly. Additionally, to avoid dwelling on the past.”
This match is a rematch of the 2022 semi-final, in which India lost badly to the same opposition in Adelaide by 10 wickets. Sharma thinks the team is in a good mindset despite the history.
Thus, it’s time to move on with the game by simply trusting on instinct,” Rohit Sharma stated.
“I believe that everyone in the group is in a positive state of mind. We are working well together as a team, having fun in each other’s company and occasionally celebrating each other’s victories. Yes, we have faced pressure in a few of the games this tournament as well, but I believe we handled it rather well. And the reason for that is most likely that we’re not planning too far ahead.
In order to get the desired outcome, we want to consider how well we can play and what we can do as a team. On the pitch, overthinking might occasionally prevent you from making the decisions you want to make. Therefore, I believe it’s critical that we continue to have a clear vision for our goals. We’ve talked enough with the players about what’s required of each of us.
Since 2017 T20 World Cup will be the first time any team has played in Providence, it will be imperative to assess conditions early. Even while talking about conditions could sound monotonous, Rohit Sharma admitted that they are nonetheless crucial. When it comes to making decisions on the pitch, such as playing certain shots or delivering specific kinds of balls, the team depends on the individual players.
“I know it sounds very boring for me to talk about conditions, conditions, because that does matter a lot,” Rohit Sharma stated. “Because we witnessed the winning score in New York.” We therefore aspire to be a clever cricket squad. We want to do more than just swing the bat and speak in a single language.

“I believe it’s critical that we comprehend the circumstances we face and the actions we must take. I’ve talked about experience in this group, and we depend on each player’s experience to go out and make that decision, whether it’s when playing reverse sweep, yorker bowling, or bouncer bowling. We depend on those people to decide that,” the Indian captain said in closing.
