Mohammed Siraj was awarded the “best fielder” medal by legendary Indian all-rounder Yuvraj Singh for his outstanding catch that dismissed Nitish Kumar during the USA vs. India T20 World Cup 2024 match.
In the current T20 World Cup, Siraj has taken home the medal twice in three games. He made a catch to remove the well-established Nitish in the 15th over of the USA innings, which was delivered by Arshdeep Singh. The short ball bowled by the left-arm seamer was pushed by the American batter towards deep square leg. He appeared to have timed the ball correctly, and it appeared that it would make it to the desired distance. But Siraj perfectly timed his leap and used both hands to catch the ball over his head.
Along with Suryakumar Yadav and Rishabh Pant, the right-arm pacer was nominated and ultimately won. One of the greatest fielders of all time, Yuvraj, gave Siraj the medal and gave praise to every player who participated in the game.

“Thanks for winning Player of the Match and for your outstanding batting performance in the previous game, Ashdeep. Well done, SKY; totally different from Suryakumar, but appropriate given the circumstances. Shivam, excellent work. It’s great to watch you scoring runs and seeing through the contest for India. Fantastic work, guys. All the best. You like, no pressure at all, I’m pretty confident. In a video that the BCCI had posted, Yuvraj declared, “Of course, best fielder of the game, Siraj game changer, great catch.”
Siraj stated that he was in the running for the medal in each of the 11 ODI World Cup matches that India played last year, but he was not successful in winning any of them. He was content that his efforts had finally paid off, though.
Siraj stated, “It’s an incredible feeling. I was a contender in 11 matches at the last World Cup, but I couldn’t win the medal. Hard work never goes to waste and always pays off.” Siraj accepted the medal.
