In their IPL 2024 match on Wednesday night, Abhishek Sharma of Sunrisers Hyderabad put on an outstanding batting performance against the Lucknow Super Giants. With the teenage opener hitting 75* off just 28 balls, SRH was able to chase down 166 in just 9.4 overs, taking all of the wickets in the process.
Aakash Chopra, a former cricket player who is now a broadcaster, likened his fluid stroke play to that of Indian great Yuvraj Singh. Following their decision to bat first, LSG scored 165/4. The visitors attained a defending total courtesy to valuable contributions from Ayush Badoni (55* off 30) and Nicholas Pooran (48* off 26).

Abhishek and Travis Head, the openers for SRH, found it easy even though the total looked competitive (89* off 30). In the powerplay, the pair amassed an astounding 107 runs, taking 10 wickets to win handily.
Chopra, who was analyzing the innings on his YouTube channel, was all praise for the Punjabi player’s crisp hitting.
“Abhishek Sharma is a compelling narrative. I find that Abhishek’s hitting style is cleaner than Head’s when I compare the two of them. The downswing is excellent, the backlift is well executed, and it has a faint Yuvraj Singh vibe. “His batting exhibits class,” he remarked.
Head appears to be taking people’s classes. Aakash Chopra
The former Indian batter made a comparison between Head, Abhishek’s opening partner, and himself. “In Head’s (Abhishek’s) case, it appears as though he is simply bashing people up and taking their class, and it seems like a continuation of cricketing shots. He also makes sixes. In just 28 balls, he scored 75 runs off of six sixes and eight fours. According to Chopra, Travis Head not only had a strike rate of 296 but also one that was quite close to 270.
Chopra believed Abhishek’s achievements would soon lead to an India call-up. “Abhishek Sharma ought to be playing for the Indian squad shortly, in my opinion. On the Indian team, his name needs to appear. We are unable to claim that there are no strikes. We’ve got a lot. Abhishek Sharma is seen. Yashasvi Jaiswal then hits at the top,” he continued.
Sharma has expressed his gratitude to the former all-rounder for his coaching and support in developing his game on multiple occasions. Yuvraj has been a steadfast booster of Sharma and has frequently been spotted giving the young player advice and guidance.
