In Match 46 of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2024), held at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Saturday, April 28, the host Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and the visiting Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) traded blows. SRH chose to field first after winning the toss. Despite losing the toss, Ruturaj Gaikwad was happy to bat. His teammate Ajinkya Rahane left after scoring 9 off 12, so his happiness was short-lived. With the powerplay scoring just 50 runs, CSK desperately needed a comeback.
Daryl Mitchell, who was having a dismal campaign thus far, joined him. The Kiwi was fully supported, just as CSK is with its players. Mitchell and Gaikwad pieced together an important partnership of 105 runs for the second wicket. Shivam Dube entered the fray with 39 balls remaining after Mitchell left for 52 off 32. After a brilliant 98-run knock, Gaikwad was out of the game on the second delivery of the twentieth over. CSK scored 212/3 thanks to two sixes from Dube and a boundary from MS Dhoni in the last over.

While Mitchell batted in the shade, Gaikwad was the one pushing each bowler. Chennai were 82 for 1 at the end of nine overs. At 36, the captain of CSK was, and at 20, the all-rounder. After hitting more boundaries, the hitters scored eighteen runs on the next eleven balls.
In the 17th over, T. Natarajan scored 17 runs.
For the whole 2024 Indian Premier League season, Natarajan bowled his most costly over. Knowing his faults, the roving Dube took him to the cleaners. Carefully, the shorter delivery was pulled, and the longer deliveries were steered towards the stand. The over had two wides, one of which the southpaw was able to successfully review, and Dube blasted him for two sixes.
Jaydev Unadkat bowls a stingy 19th over.
With their current form, Ruturaj Gaikwad and Shivam Dube sought an enormous finish. But Unadkat, who depended mostly on the slower delivery, had other ideas. The back-of-hand deliveries and off-cutters were mixed up in the over. He stops the mayhem that was awaiting SRH with just eight runs conceded.
