In the opening Indian Premier League (IPL) match of 2024, which took place in Chennai on March 22, star pacer Mustafizur Rahman of Bangladesh was a key component for Chennai Super Kings (CSK) versus Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB). CSK defeated RCB at Chepauk for the eighth time in a row, winning by a margin of six wickets.
Following the visitors’ decision to bat first, Chennai was able to restrict Bengaluru by 173 thanks to Rahman’s outstanding 4/29 session. In the fifth over, the 28-year-old gave his team an early lead by dismissing Rajat Patidar for a three-ball duck and RCB skipper Faf du Plessis (35) for a 35. In the twelfth over, he struck once more, sending Cameron Green and Virat Kohli back to the pavilion. Notably, he was able to win the first Player of the Match title in the tournament’s 17th edition thanks to his match-winning run.
Fans were taken aback when Mustafizur Rahman remained silent during the traditional post-match presentation ceremony.
Nonetheless, it is acknowledged that his silence was caused by communication problems. The 28-year-old is only at ease speaking Bengali, and neither he nor any of his teammates are native speakers. Even yet, MS Dhoni is not fluent in Bengali and cannot translate words well.

With eight balls remaining, Ruturaj Gaikwad’s CSK team defeated RCB by six wickets, capping his first victory as skipper. CSK encountered difficulties throughout the chase as well, but in the penultimate over, Shivam Dube (34* off 28) and Ravindra Jadeja (25* off 17) helped their side cross the finish line.
