A former captain of South Africa, AB de Villiers, expressed his dissatisfaction at the absence of a third Test between Protes and India. The series was leveled 1-1 when the hosts won the first Test in Centurion and India won the second game in Cape Town, eliminating both sides from winning the series.
AB de Villiers continued by saying that nothing in Test cricket is going well, raising doubts about the future of red-ball cricket. Notably, other cricket commentators have discussed the problems with Test cricket in the past, notably Ravi Shastri.
“The fact that there was no third test makes me very angry. You have to take responsibility once more for the scheduling, the ICC, and T20 cricket worldwide. I have no idea who is at fault. I just know that something isn’t quite right. Things will need to alter if you want to watch more Test cricket matches. I assure you that the cricket matches between Australia, England, and India will be sufficient. He stated on YouTube, “But something will have to change if you want to see all the teams in the world competing to see who is the best test team in the world.”
In my perspective, Cape Town was a fairly typical wicket: AB de Villiers
The famed batsman-wicketkeeper went on to address the Newlands pitch, which has been up for debate since the second Test. It’s interesting to note that the second Test was the fastest in history, finishing in just 642 balls (107 overs). It was also the first-ever Test victory for India in Cape Town.
“I thought it (Cape Town) was a fairly standard wicket. On Day 1, I recall bouncing about there. It becomes easier if you can only make it through the first session on Day 1. According to the 39-year-old, “the players who were making their shots and not hanging around were the ones doing well.”
“There, Ben Stokes scored a double hundred, as I recall. There, I scored in the hundreds. He went on, “You can’t let bowlers like Philander, Bumrah, Siraj, and Rabada continue to bowl off-stump.
