The 10 franchises in the Indian Premier League (IPL) made every effort to assemble their squads from the auction with the best players available, as the 17th edition of the league takes place in a few months. Stars such as Mitchell Starc, Daryl Mitchell, Rachin Ravindra, and numerous others were forced to switch teams. Speaking on their auction purchases, veteran cricketer AB de Villiers of South Africa spoke up regarding Hyderabad’s prospects for the 2018 IPL season. AB de Villiers believed that SRH might win the whole season with players like Travis Head, Wanindu Hasaranga, and Pat Cummins.
SRH was one of the squads at the auction that turned a lot of heads. The team brought in a lot of big names, including Australian captain Pat Cummins, who was brought in for INR 20.5 crore.
“Wanindu Hasaranga, the leg-spinner from Sri Lanka, was one of the biggest steals of the IPL, at barely INR 1.5 crore. Please, do me a favor. That guy accomplishes something exceptional in every other game he plays, and he wins. One of my favorite teams from the previous campaign was this one. AB de Villiers posted on his YouTube channel, “They have only added Pat Cummins, Travis Head, Unadkat, Hasaranga, and a few others to the squad.”
“That is a squad with IPL-winning potential. I won’t guarantee that they will prevail in the IPL. But keep an eye out for Sunrisers Hyderabad in the IPL 2024,” he continued.
Aiden Markram would still be my choice for captain. AB de Villiers
Additionally, AB de Villiers stated that although SRH had a number of elite players on the team, he would still choose South Africa’s Aiden Markram to lead the group in the next season.
“Aideen Markram will continue to lead me as captain. I used to play with this man. He possesses excellent leadership acumen. De Villiers stated, “I think he’ll perform better this season and has a very good squad to work with.”
