During the IPL 2024 mini-auction on Tuesday, December 19, at Coca-Cola Arena in Dubai, batter Sameer Rizvi of Uttar Pradesh was sold to the Chennai Super Kings for an incredible INR 8.4 crore. The Chennai Super Kings, Gujarat Titans, and Delhi Capitals expressed interest in purchasing Rizvi when he went up for IPL 2024 auction, with a base price of INR 20 lakh. After winning the bidding war, CSK eventually signed the talented 20-year-old.
As he smashed the most sixes for the Kanpur Superstars (35), Rizvi garnered attention for his outstanding efforts in the most recent UP T20 League. In addition, he struck a half-century and two stunning hundreds during the T20 spectacle. With an astounding strike rate of 188.8 and 455 runs from ten matches at an average of 50.56, the cricketer from Meerut emerged as the third-highest run scorer of the competition.
Sameer Rizvi was invited for tryouts by three teams, including the Punjab Kings, after his outstanding performance in the UP T20 League. He was unable to participate in the tryouts, though, because of his obligations to the UP Under 23 team, where he made headlines in his debut game by hitting an incredible 91 (65) against Rajasthan.

Men’s Under-23 State The tournament leader, Sameer Rizvi, scored the most.
In the competition final, he struck a match-winning 84 off 50 balls, which further aided UP. With two hundred and two fifties, he finished as the tournament’s top run scorer. The six-hitting machine also topped the list of machines with the most maximum fence-clearing scores, with 37 victories.
In the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy earlier this season, Rizvi struck eighteen sixes, further showcasing his flawless hitting ability. Rizvi has played 11 T20 matches in his brief career, amassing 295 runs at a 49.16 average and a 134.70 strike rate.
