Both of the games on the second day of the 2023 ODI World Cup warm-up matches were ruined by rain, which was a major letdown.
Fourth match:
England vs. India
Without bowling a single ball, the first game of the day between India and England in Guwahati was called off. (India chose to bat after winning the toss)
Australia vs. Netherlands, game five
Rain also substantially limited the second game of the day, which was between Australia and the Netherlands in Thiruvanathapuram. The match was only 23 overs per side.
After winning the toss, Australia elected to bat first, and Steve Smith opened by scoring 55 off of 42. Australia scored 166/7 in their allotted 23 overs after Cameron Green contributed 34 runs to the total.
The Netherlands, who were trying to chase the target, got off to a terrible start as the top-order struggled after the batters were cheaply dismissed. Thanks to Mitchell Starc’s hat-trick, Max O’Dowd, Wesley Barresi, and Bas de Leede were sent packing for ducks.
Although Colin Ackermann played a tough innings, scoring an unbroken 31, the game was abandoned due to rain once more. Netherlands only managed to score 84 runs in 14.2 overs while losing six wickets. With three wickets for 18 runs, Starc led Australia in wickets for the second innings.
