Aakash Chopra, who used to play cricket for India, has spoken out about how he feels about the 2023 Asia Cup being played in a hybrid style. The next continental championship was in danger of not happening because India refused to go to Pakistan and Pakistan refused to let the game be held in another country. All of the countries have agreed, though, that the event will be held in a mixed way, with four games to be played in Pakistan and the rest in Sri Lanka.
Chopra thought it was normal for Pakistan to play in the Asia Cup, even though most of the games were being played on the island. Also, the commentator was sure that Pakistan will play in the upcoming Cricket World Cup because they can’t just skip the big ICC games.
“I’m not surprised at all, because India had already said they wouldn’t go, and they’re still not going. There is no question that Pakistan will also come to play in the World Cup. “You can’t do that in ICC events where you don’t play,” Chopra said on his YouTube channel.
The former India opener went on to say that a team can decide not to play in the Asia Cup, and other teams can still play without them. The 45-year-old said that the Asia Cup without Pakistan is like pizza without cheese. He also said that Pakistan should take part in the continental game, because if they don’t, it won’t be fun.
“In the Asia Cup, you can show a little bit of strength by saying you won’t play and that other teams can play without you if they want to.
Without Pakistan, the Asia Cup would be like pizza without cheese. It will not be fun. So you want Pakistan to be in the Asia Cup,” he said.
Now that everything is set, India and Pakistan will play each other again in the Asia Cup: Chopra Aakash Chopra also said that it was always clear that India would not go to Pakistan, but that Pakistan would go to India. The 45-year-old thinks that the long-running argument about where the continental tournament will take place is finally over. He also said that everyone will get to see India and Pakistan fight again in the Asia Cup, and he was happy that Nepal had made it into the event.
“It was always clear that India would never go to Pakistan and that Pakistan would always go to India. No more putting on airs. I hope this is the end of the argument, since the talks were going on and nothing was getting decided. India and Pakistan will play each other again in the Asia Cup. This is now a done deal. One more good thing about this time is that Nepal is on the rise and will be in India’s group, Chopra said.
