The IPL auction list has been reduced by 1000 names by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), from 1574 to 574. However, on the days of the mega-auction, which are November 24 and 25, not every cricket player who made the final cut may be put up for sale.
After the names of 116 players have been announced for bidding, the auction will go into an accelerated phase. According to the registry, Ricky Bhui is the 117th player. Important information about the auction process was provided to the franchises in BCCI’s official release on Friday, November 15.
Please take note that the faster process is expected to begin after player number 116, subject to timings, for your planning purposes. The BCCI said in a statement that the first accelerated procedure will encompass all players from 117 to 574. Franchises will be requested to propose a certain number of players from this group by 10 PM on the evening of November 24.
“Franchises will be asked to submit the names of players (unpresented or unsold) from the entire list of 574 for additional expedited presentation after these players (117–574) have been presented. More information on this will be provided at the auction briefing on November 23, 2024,” it continued.
After the two sets of marquee players, there will be a full round of capped players by skill set, including batters, all-rounders, wicketkeepers and batsmen, fast bowlers, and spin bowlers. After that, there will be a full round of uncapped players by specialisation.
The first group of star players consists of Mitchell Starc, Arshdeep Singh, Kagiso Rabada, Rishabh Pant, Jos Buttler, and Shreyas Iyer. Six more players—Yuzvendra Chahal, Liam Livingstone, David Miller, KL Rahul, Mohammed Shami, and Mohammed Siraj—are included in the second batch.
Jofra Archer will not be playing in the 2025 IPL.
The absence of England’s top seamer, Jofra Archer, was one of the main topics of conversation following the auction register’s release. Because the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) wants him to be healthy for the summer assignments with the national team, he will not be able to play in the 18th edition of the IPL.

It’s also acknowledged that the fact that there are only 12 players on the marquee list surprises the organisations. They believed that at least 20 players from the category would be available for grabs after the BCCI told them that the auction will feature two sets of marquee players, according to
