Danni Wyatt-Hodge, England Women’s explosive opener, will now play for the reigning champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru Women (RCB-W) in the coveted Women’s Premier League (WPL) the next season. Notably, Wyatt-Hodge was traded from UP Warriorz Women (UP-W) to RCB in a primarily monetary transaction.
For INR 30 lakhs, the English batter was signed during the WPL 2024 auctions. With the UP-based team, which placed fourth in the previous year’s competition, the 33-year-old did not, however, receive any playing time. She was also traded without paying any additional costs in the deal between the two well-known franchises, it was disclosed. The fact that she has yet to make her eagerly anticipated WPL debut is therefore noteworthy.
Danni Wyatt-Hodge has participated in an incredible 164 Twenty20 International matches, scoring nearly 3,000 runs (2,979) with 16 fifties and two incredible hundreds to her credit. She also maintained a respectable strike rate of 127.85 throughout these games.
Speaking on the most recent development and welcoming Wyatt-Hodge to the RCB family, Captain Smriti Mandhana described the English batter as an amazing athlete and a total game changer. In support of her participation, she stated that her abilities would undoubtedly contribute to RCB Women’s future goals.
“Danielle is a game-changer and a phenomenal athlete,” RCB captain Smriti Mandhana stated in a comment. “The goals of our team are perfectly aligned with her abilities and passion of competition. “We are thrilled to have her join the RCB and are looking forward to the energy she will bring to the team,” cited Mandhana as saying.
It would be awesome if I could play for RCB. Danni Wyatt-Hodge
Fascinatingly, in 2020, Danni Wyatt-Hodge was asked to choose her preferred Indian Premier League (IPL) team, which led to some amusing banter between her and Yuzvendra Chahal, the legspinner for India. When asked if she would mind playing for any team in India’s greatest cricket carnival, Danni-Wyatt Hodge said unflinchingly that she would want to play for RCB. She also mentioned the fact that she would like to be a member of the prestigious team, which includes Chahal, Chris Gayle, Virat Kohli, and AB de Villiers.

“Really, I have no problem with any team. But because Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) have or have had AB de Villiers, Yuzvendra Chahal, Moeen Ali, Virat Kohli, and Chris Gayle, I back them. I would like to play for the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB),” Wyatt was reported as saying by Cricket.com.
